Gettysburg Address
December 13, 2013
To celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Gettysburg Address, documentarian Ken Burns launched a national effort to encourage everyone in America to video record themselves reading or reciting the speech and submit it to learntheaddress.org. (David's submission is in the Video Gallery here).
Although a lifelong admirer of Abraham Lincoln, David had never memorized the Gettysburg Address, and was inspired by Ken Burns' challenge to do so. Mrs. Teresa Reed's classroom, where one day every February David teaches his sister's fifth-graders about Abraham Lincoln, seemed the perfect location. Friend Curtis Parrish was the videographer.
