Dear Family and Friends,
I talked with Lynne last night (Thurs). She arrived home between 4:30 & 5:00 Wednesday. One of her nurses, Mo, that she and Russell liked so much, worked Wednesday (she usually never works days) and was the one to get to discharge her. Russell bought a party tray, bread and chips, and a card to the staff to thank them for taking care of Lynne when he came to pick her up.
Before Lynne left, her doctors, Dr. Moeller (rehab. dr.) and Dr. Feroke (neurologist), came by to visit Lynne and take a look at her incision. Lynne lifted her head, and scootched up and over towards the doctors. When she did, Dr. Feroke said, "What are you doing? How did you do that? Don't you know that patients with your kind of surgery don't move like that for 3-6 months? Wow, you're really doing well!" As Dr. Feroke left with Dr. Moeller, Lynne heard Dr. Feroke say again, "She's really doing well."
Besides the movement, on Tuesday, Lynne got her bladder back. She said her PT told her that 99% of spinal injury patients never get that back. She knows that it is only through prayer that this has happened! Praise God!!!!
It was difficult for Lynne to say goodbye, especially to Celeste, her Occupational Therapist. (She will be receiving therapy at the outpatient rehab. on the 3rd floor of University Hospital). Her PT, Bev, walked her to the car and went through a couple of transfers with her and Russell to the car before she and Russell left.
Although she was exhausted when she got home, words cannot explain how WONDERFUL it felt. The boys were with their friend Kay Kipp, and so Lynne and Russell had a little bit of time to themselves to settle in. Except for waking up to turn over, she slept through her first night at home.
Thursday, she and Russell went to get the handicap sign for their car, went to Walmart to pick up some items they were needing, and Lynne finally got to open her Christmas presents from Russell and the boys. (By the way, Russell had put the presents in the living room where the Christmas tree had been) Lynne said she had called into work to tell them she was home and to let them know she would soon be interested in her computer.
We thank God for all that he has done, and all that he is going to do in Lynne's life. Lynne said that we need to not only talk about what Jesus has done, we need to look for more opportunities to tesify what God is doing in all of our lives.
I would like to share the words of a song that we have referenced several times since Lynne's accident. The song is entitled, You Are My All In All. "You are my strength when I am weak. You are the treasure that I seek. You are my all in all. Seeking you as a precious jewel. Lord to give up I'd be a fool. You are my all in all. (chorus) Jesus, Lamb of God, worthy is your name. Jesus, Lamb of God, worthy is your name! (vs. 2) Taking my sin, my cross, my shame. Rising again I bless your name. You are my all in all. When I fall down you pick me up. When I am dry you fill my cup. You are my all in all. (repeat chorus)
Keep praying!!!!
God bless,
Teresa
P.S. Lynne said that since she is home, that you can e-mail her if you would like to. (Some of you have already done this and Russell has read each one to her).
