Dear Family and Friends,
I talked to Lynne Sunday evening. She had had a difficult week trying to get oupatient therapy working. When she went on Thursday (3-2) they had not communicated with inpatient rehab. (Inpatient rehab is on the 6th floor of the hospital, and outpatient is on the 3rd) This has been one of Lynne's frustrations all along...the lack of communication in the hospital. She is anxious to get the therapy going on a regular basis so that she will continue to get stronger and stronger.
She said that everything is time consuming. This week she decided to shower Saturday night instead of trying to get up and shower before church on Sunday. This seemed to work better. She even wore a dress to church. She still can't do her make-up, but it felt good to have a dress on. Sunday, at church, they sang songs like, "My heart, my mind, my body, my soul, I give to You, take control. I give my body as a living sacrifice, Lord, take control, take control." And "My Jesus I love Thee...if ever I love Thee, my Jesus tis now." She said it is hard to sing those songs, but it is a blessing just to be there and get life back in center where it belongs.
Lynne is trying to find someone to clean her house. Remember, this was an offer her old boss made back in December. The carpet was installed on Wednesday, so Wednesday night Lynne was able to sleep in her own bed with Russell! On Saturday, the guys did yard work, so Lynne sat out on the porch. Her 80 year old neighbor, that looks in on them, came over to visit awhile. The boys will be leaving on Friday (10th) to go on a ski retreat in Colorado. (They wwill return on Wed., 15th). The boys are excited about the trip, and Lynne and Russell are looking forward to some alone time.
Lynne finally had the opportunity to talk to Helga, the head nurse at inpatient rehab. She had been able to tell her how wonderful Cheryl, Mae, and Mo (as well as others) were while she was in the hospital. Helga said that the hospital is looking into having Mo move to more of a teaching position for nurses coming on the floor. Again Lynne told them that the area that needed work was that of communication.
Lynne got a new pillow on Friday. She said it helped her sleep better. She is definitely sick and tired of her neck collar! She goes back to her neurologist on the 28th, so hopefully by then she will be able to get it off. Also, she is still getting a "cynched" feeling ,off and on. Sunday she said had been a good day because she wasn't feeling that way. She is also still dealing with spasicity.
Although Lynne is still not walking, Russell says that her standing balance is getting better!
We must continue to pray for complete healing of Lynne's body. Doctors say that it will take a year to eighteen months recovery time. It's been 2 1/2 months, and we thank God for all that He has done this far and all that He is going to do. Continue to pray for endurance for everyone.
In October 1998, Lynne, Ruth and I sang at our Grandmother Powell's funeral. The words of one of the songs continue to come to my mind. I would like to share them with you.

One Day At A Time
I'm only human, I'm just a woman. Help me believe in what I could be and all that I am. Show me the stairway I have to climb. Lord, for my sake, teach me to take, one day at a time.
(chorus) One day at a time, sweet Jesus, that's all I'm asking from You. Just give me the strength to do everyday what I have to do. Yesterday's gone, sweet Jesus, and tomorrow may never be mine. Lord help me today, show me the way, one day at a time.
Lord, you remember when you walked among men? Well, Jesus you know as You're looking below it's worse now than then. Pushin' and shovin' crowding my mind, so for my sake, teach me to take, one day at a time. (repeat chorus)
God bless-
Teresa
P.S. Please continue to keep Lynne, Russell and the boys on all of your prayer lists. Thanks so much for your prayers and words of encouragement.
