Subject: Celebrating 8 Years
Dear Friends and Family,
Today, Christmas Eve, I celebrate 8 years since my accident with the fireplace. This is the note I sent to K-LOVE radio this morning:
Eight years ago today, Christmas Eve 1999, I stepped up on the hearth to light a large candle on the mantle, when the whole facade of the limestone fireplace fell away from the wall and threw me across the room. Initially paralyzed from the neck down, having sustained a spinal cord injury from C1 to C3 in my neck, I soon lay in ICU unsure what my future held. Music has always been a prominent part of my life, and within the first day, someone brought in a radio and tuned it in to K-LOVE. At that time, the signal in San Antonio was very spotty, yet in the hospital, it came in perfectly. Throughout the 2 months I was in the hospital, music was a very important part of my therapy, day and night. Through rehab, surgery and, most of all, much prayer and petition before our loving God, I was given the miracle of healing. Today I walk with a cane, have a very stiff neck, and do not have complete feeling in my hands or feet, and yet I am healed. I was given a story to tell of God's grace and love, and am literally standing on holy ground. Today, again Christmas Eve, I celebrate that day with thanksgiving for Jesus Christ who came to this earth in obedience to God as a little baby and because of His ultimate death and resurrection , I have been given life, not only once but twice.
Tonight I had the privilege to sing on the praise team for our Christmas Eve service at church. What a way to celebrate the physical healing I have received, and the spiritual healing which comes only through knowing and following our Lord Jesus Christ. What an amazing God we serve! May we all come to know the height, width, and depth of His love for you and me. I can think of no better way to spend the rest of my life.
Merry Christmas to all of you and blessings of love, peace, joy, and hope in the new year.
Love,
Lynne
