Dear Friends and Family,
I find myself in transition again. I'll get to the details of that in a minute, but first let me update you on some of my recent accomplishments:
Russell's employer has been very gracious to allow him to be on leave with me over the past seven months. However, it was time to make some decisions concerning his employment. Since he graduated from SMU in June, completing the classroom portion of his MCSE certification, it is time for him to look for a new job in his new profession. Therefore, he chose to resign from HEB after almost eight years of service. Because of that, we had to transition to my insurance. University outpatient rehab is not a provider on my insurance, so I have to transition to a new provider. I have chosen Warm Springs, and my therapist and Dr. Barber have been very helpful in trying to make that a smooth transition.
Today was my last day at University, and I have come such a long way in my recovery while I was there. Before I left today, I walked back up to the sixth floor where I was an inpatient for two months. I saw some of the nurses, aides, and therapists who helped me up there, and it was good for all of us.
I think I am now ready to move on to the next chapter. Please pray for us in this transition.
"For I know whate'er befall me, Jesus doeth all things well."
"My strength is made perfect in weakness."
God bless you all,
Lynne

Dear Friends and Family,
I find myself in transition again. I'll get to the details of that in a minute, but first let me update you on some of my recent accomplishments:
- I am now using my mobilizer nearly everywhere I go. I still use my chair when I go to big stores or other places that require a lot of walking. We even had a "watch Lynne walk" party at work. It was a wonderful opportunity to share how good God has been to me. Today, in therapy, they asked me to try a 4-footed cane! I did okay with it, but it'll take some practice to get the rhythm. I like my mobilizer because it has a basket to carry things in and a seat to sit on while doing certain things, or when I get tired, so it feels more versatile and it has definitely given me more freedom.
- I have learned to climb stairs! The last time, in therapy, we used a normal staircase at the hospital that had 10 steps up one side and and 9 steps up the other. I walked this flight of stairs twice - so that is 38 steps! Our church building does not have an elevator, and the chorus practice room as well as the teen room are upstairs so I'm glad to be able to climb up there. I also work on the 11th floor, so I'm glad that I could use some stairs if needed.
- I have started walking on the treadmill. This helps me work on my gait. I am up to 10 minutes at a time. Needless to say, we have been working very hard on my balance to be able to accomplish these things.
- In OT, we have been working on writing and my signature is almost back to normal although I still use a modified hold for my pen. We have also been working on upper body strength, and I can now raise my right arm to the normal 180 degrees. I love it when a therapist uses the word NORMAL in her evaluation!
