Dear Family & Friends,
As I write this, I first want to wish all of you a Merry Christmas.
About 3:15 P.M. yesterday, Christmas Eve, Lynne was lighting a candle that was sitting on top of out fireplace mantle, when the entire limestone facade gave way from the wall & collapsed. Our twin boys were in their room and heard the noise & found Lynne with on the floor, with most of the rock around her ankles. She told Eric to call 911, and had Aaron call me at work from our cell phone.
The paramedics were on the scene within 4 minutes, & I got home from the store shortly afterward. They took her to University Hospital here in San Antonio, because of injuries to her right ankle, and not having any feeling in her arms and legs.
After getting her stabilized, we spent the next 11 hours in the E.R., where several more tests were done. She has broken her right ankle, on the lateral side, and some feeling was coming back into her feet, but she still was having difficulty moving her arms. Two Neurologists examined her, and brought in the Neurosurgeon to examine her. He ordered an MRI, which showed some swelling of her spinal cord, plus two herniated disks in her neck; between C3-4, and C4-5. He also ordered a strong dose of steroids to try to bring down the swelling in her spinal column.
She was moved to the STICU at 2:00 A.M.
The neurosurgeon would like to try to get the swelling down in her spinal column before attempting surgery to correct the herniated disks in her neck, because the risk of surgery at this point is a very high risk. He has ordered the steroid treatments to go on for the next 2 days.
I solicit your prayers for Lynne, both from you and your church families, because we both feel that only with God's intervention, can healing truly take place.
Eric and Aaron are staying over tonight with a friend from school. I am very proud of the way they handled themselves in getting help, and the way they carried themselves as we were waiting in the Emergency Room.
Thank you for your prayers and support for us...
