Dear Family & Friends,
Please continue to pray for Lynne & Russell. Tonight before Russell left the hospital he wasn't feeling very well. He said he had some tightness in his chest. On the way home from the hospital Russell was turning into the Albertson's parking lot when he hit a pole on the passenger side of his pick-up. Russell called Lynne, Lynne called one of their friends from church, who then called Bob McGrew, another friend from church, who went to Albertsons to check on Russell. Russell had a tow truck tow his truck to the house, and Bob gave Russell a ride home. He was going to try to get some sleep. (The boys were at the hospital with my mom visiting Lynne). It has been 5 weeks since the accident, and the stress of it all has been overwhelming.
Also, please keep Russell's mom in your prayers (Anita Riggan). She is going into the hospital on Monday to have dye injected into her to make sure she doesn't have any blood clots around her heart. As long as this test goes well, she will have electric shock (Epicardiagram) done on her heart on Tuesday to try to correct an irregular heartbeat.
Even though things have been stressful, Lynne continues to make progress each day.
Lynne's right leg has been taken out of the hard cast, and put into an air splint filled with gel that conforms to her leg.
They put her in a "standing" machine on Friday. The machine grips her knees, and there is a table that she kind of leans against. She was able to move right and back up, left and back up, forward and back up, and back and back up! While she was standing there she used some theraputty in her hands. She said she used her palms to roll little balls. She can also balance herself in a sitting position, lean forward, backward, and side to side without falling over!
Once she is in her wheelchair she is moving around with her feet. She has nicknamed her chair the "Flinstone Car".
Russell and Lynne have been talking about things that will need to be done at the house before she goes home. They will also need to find someone to help take care of Lynne once she is home, because she won't be able to take care of herself for awhile. It will still be a few weeks before she will be ready to go home, but there is a lot to do between now and then. They are working on taking one day at a time.
Tonight, before I hung up from Lynne, we sang, God Will Make A Way. The words go like this:
God will make a way, where there seems to be no way. He works in ways we cannot see, He will make a way for me. He will be my guide, hold me closely to His side. With love and strength for each new day, He will make a way. He will make a way.
God bless,
Teresa
