Dear Family and Friends,
It has been a while since I have posted a progress report. Thanks so much for your continued prayers and concern. This week God has again proven Himself faithful and in control and I just had to share it.
The first week of August, Dr. Barber released me from therapy at Warm Springs. We were blessed to find a health facility close to home that has both equipment as well as a pool and hot tub which Russell and I can both use for just $45/month to continue my stability and strengthening exercising. I told Russell that he had waited for me long enough and now he could join me! And, my boss is still giving me some flexibility on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, as my schedule permits, to go to the gym before work - I am just too tired afterward.
Some time in September, Dr. Barber wrote my insurance a letter recommending me for massage therapy. This letter was lost in the infamous insurance shuffle. In December I found it again and was able to get it into the hands of the right person. A couple of weeks ago, I got a letter in return indicating that they would, in fact, pay for massage therapy - 80% after a $250 deductible.
Meanwhile. some time in November, Russell and I joined a small Bible study on Friday nights. Starting small, and asking God to bring into our group anyone He saw fit. A couple of weeks later, Star Ferninand joined our group. We did not know her other than as an acquaintance before then. We were told that she spent Thanksgiving by herself. Since we were having a quiet Christmas at home by ourselves this year, the Spirit prompted us to ask her to join us. She did, and we had a very relaxing time together.
I had the opportunity to share my story with her - sitting in my living room, looking at my fireplace decorated for Christmas - it was a natural topic. I did mention that my story was posted to David's web site, and that I hoped to start massage therapy soon. A couple of days later, I sent her the link - but she had gone home that night, found it on a Google search and read the whole thing (don't ask me how she found it - I have tried, but to no avail). Also, she had given my name to a contact of hers, Cindy Mosely, asking for a referral since Cindy was formally the president of the San Antonio Massage Therapy association.
Cindy replied back to her that it was "funny" that Star should contact her. She had just completed classes for "NST (neuro-structural integration technique) and the stories that I heard were pretty miraculous." She had been looking and praying for an opportunity to use it. She said that if I would be her guinea pig, that she would do the first 3 sessions free, and then would work with my insurance. Well - who am I to argue with God?
I talked to Cindy on Friday. Star had sent her the link to my web page and she had read it all and knew all about my adventures! I told her that Star had shared her response with me, and I was very excited about the possibilities since it seemed rather obvious that God had brought us together. My first appointment is next Saturday. I will keep you posted!
